If we don’t have the vessels, we can’t hold the lights

in Ki Edosecha Sicha Li

Compiled as a publication for our shared teacher R. DovBer Pinson, all contributions take Hasidic thought as a springboard. My poems consider our capacity to stand at the unfathomable maw of trauma, to be undone through loss, shaped by the intergenerational unconscious of others, and yet, have a body with its terrifying capacity for aliveness. “If we don’t have the vessels, we can’t hold the lights” included in Ki Edosecha Sicha Li. Edited & curated by Jorian Polis Schutz and Boz Werdiger, design by Rochie Pinson, text design by Sholom Denebeim, as a festschrift for R. DovBer Pinson, July 2021. Another iteration appears as “Creation Myths” In Dead Time, edited by Jade Rivera for Ariana Reines’ Invisible College, June 2021
